re-wireNXT: Friday Open Studio

Year 2 of a 2-year program of artist-led, community-based master planning for the former Gilbert & Bennett wire mill campus, a 56-acre site in Georgetown village, Town of Redding, in northern Fairfield County. Programming included student internships on art, architecture, environment, and community development in partnership with Redding and Region 9 Public School District, CT (2013, 2014); funding from the State of Connecticut, Department of Economic and Community Development; with the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation; and CT Innovations (the state venture fund); fiscal sponsorship provided by New York Foundation for the Arts.  Feasibility study conducted with urban designer Steve Cecil, The Cecil Group, Boston; Historic Preservation Architects Carl Rothbart and Rose Scott Long, WASA, NYC; and Marie Ennis, PE, and Dennis Friedman, PE, Old Structures Engineering, NYC.
